Confused about what existed before religion, or is the actually universe 13.75 Gyrs old?
So Lets pick say Christianity as our calender seems to be based around it.
Now After 0 AD this religion seems to have become all the craze. (Well more or less around this time, but if this religion was true why was it not believed before-hand?*
I can only speculate that it did not exist before hand if it did I can only come up with of two conclusions. (for the moment)
1st, That every individual before hand did not know about this religion and thus (a) “god” sent them to eternal purgatory.
or
2nd, That the religion was independent of those who believed it, (for it to exist); but this throws up many other questions; Why should we care? (why not rebel against such a tyrannical oppressor?) Why does it change? (which does, from all the ‘interpretations’), Why is it there? What physical system represents it? [Does not apply if it is dependent on the people who believe it, as they provide the physical system] (see information theory, and thermodynamics [every piece of information must be represented by some physical system]) ect. *
* replace with any religion or messiah you care to think of which claims to know everything.
Christianity did not become “all the craze” until hundreds of years after 0 AD (or as I like to call it 0 CE), it was not even acknowledged as a religion by the first county it infected (The Roman Empire) until around 300 CE (before that it was considered a cult). But apart from that I with the other points you have raised.
And I think I can answer one of the questions you have raised: “Why is it there?” It is due to two reasons; its existence helps the ruling classes control the “plebs” (and makes ruling classes more money (money seems to be an important part of all religions)) and because it gives people an simple and easy way to believe what they want to be true such as something all powerful created the world for them, looking after them and has the same values as them, and that their consciousness will exist forever in heaven.
So to sum up my point religion exists because the human race is self-centred and egotistic and not because it includes any truths or higher moral standing.
